Looking for a fresh
idea for this weekend? How about peach picking? Central Texas peaches are
famous around the world.
Certainly a peachy activity for your Fourth of July weekend at the Barsana
Dham Temple off FM 1826: Picking peaches in the gorgeous orchard.
"You can make peach cobbler, peach pie, peach preserves, which are made
right here. We do sell them at the peach stand. And of course we have a
lot of peaches to be picked," orchard manager Ram Persaud said.
The orchard has 700 peach trees with seven different varieties of peaches,
all on seven acres.
And there's more to do on the gorgeous grounds of Barsana Dham. People
from all over the world visit 200 acre temple, recreated to resemble a
famous temple in Barsana, India.
"Most people come out to pick the peaches, then they realize there are
gardens, fountains, peacocks, wildflowers. There's a river and a cave with
a waterfall,"
Persaud said.
